Algiers Hosts Launch Event for 4th Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF2025)
The city of Algiers has officially launched the promotional campaign for the 4th Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF2025), set to take place from September 4–10, 2025, at the Palais des Expositions, Pins Maritimes. This major continental event is organized by the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) in collaboration with the African Union (AU)and the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretariat.
The launch ceremony brought together high-level dignitaries including Kamel Rezig, Algeria’s Minister of Trade and Export Promotion, Bakhta Selma Mansouri, Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad, Olusegun Obasanjo, former Nigerian President and Chairperson of the IATF Advisory Council, and Wamkele Mene, Secretary-General of AfCFTA.
In his remarks, Minister Rezig emphasized Algeria’s commitment to regional integration through substantial investments in trade-enabling infrastructure such as ports, airports, railways, the Trans-Saharan highway, and fiber-optic networks. He also highlighted plans to boost Algeria’s role in the Nigeria–Algeria gas pipeline project, reinforcing its position as a trade and logistics hub for Africa.
The IATF2025 is expected to be a landmark event aimed at accelerating intra-African trade and investment, with projected trade and investment deals exceeding $44 billion. It will serve as a key platform for African businesses, investors, and governments to explore partnerships, showcase goods and services, and drive economic cooperation across the continent.
The AfCFTA Secretary-General, Wamkele Mene, praised Algeria’s leadership and readiness to host the fair, noting that the IATF represents a tangible mechanism for realizing the aspirations of the AfCFTA agreement.
This initiative is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen African economic integration and promote inclusive growth, with Algeria positioning itself as a key player in the continent’s transformation.
